The engine table
The Visibility tab shows one row per AI engine — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini — plus Google AI Surfaces (AI Overview and AI Mode, covered in their own article). Each row shows how often that engine mentions the brand for your tracked prompts, alongside its trend.
Mention rate and multi-run sampling
AI answers are not deterministic — the same question can produce different answers minutes apart. So Upranke doesn't ask once: each prompt runs multiple times per engine, and the mention rate is the share of runs where your brand appeared. Results also carry a confidence level (high / medium / low) so you know how stable each number is.
That's what makes a rate of 67% meaningful: it says "this engine mentions you in about two of every three answers", not "we saw you once".
A measured 0% is not "no data". 0% means the engine was scanned and didn't mention you — a real result you can work on. Surfaces that have never been scanned show as not tracked instead. Upranke keeps the two strictly separate, so you're never staring at a zero wondering which kind it is.
Reading the numbers
- Rate per engine — engines differ; strong on ChatGPT and absent on Perplexity is a normal (and actionable) picture.
- Trend — compare against previous scans; direction matters more than any single reading.
- Prompt detail — dig into which prompts you win and which you lose to see the topic pattern behind the rate.
Keep prompts buyer-real. The rate is only as meaningful as the prompts behind it. Track questions with genuine brand or buying intent — broad, generic terms dilute the signal.
