Scan Limits & Cooldowns

How often Upranke re-scans each surface, why AI-surface refreshes have a cooldown, and where plan limits come in.

The 15-day AI-surface cooldown

Google AI Overview and AI Mode can each be refreshed once every 15 days per brand. After a refresh, the button shows a countdown until the next one unlocks.

The cooldown exists to balance freshness against cost. AI-surface scans are the most expensive scans Upranke runs, and these surfaces change gradually — day-to-day re-scans mostly return the same answers. A 15-day cycle keeps your trend data meaningful while keeping this scan type included in your plan rather than metered per use.

Make each refresh count. Time refreshes to land after meaningful changes — a content push, a PR win, new reviews — so each scan measures the effect of something you did.

Regular engine scans are separate

The cooldown applies only to Google AI surfaces. Your regular engine scans — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini — run on their own schedule and are not affected by AI-surface refreshes in either direction.

Plan-based limits

Scan frequency and tracked-keyword limits vary by plan. Full per-plan details are being finalised — see Plans & Pricing for current information.
